Beginning Knitters
Finished Size: hat circumference approx. 20" and will stretch up to 22"
Materials: i skein Noro Kochoran (176 yds/100 grams); US 10 (6mm) and US 10.5 (7mm) 16" circular needles; US 10.5 double point needles; stitch marker
Gauge: 3.75 sts = 1" over st st on US 10.5 needle or size to get gauge
Note: If you prefer a higher crown than insert knit rnds after each dec rnd until the last two dec rnds. Do these two dec rnds as written.
Instructions:
Using US 10 circular needle cast on 72 sts, join, place marker for beg of rnd and work in K2, P2 rib for 4" from beg edge.
Nxt rnd: Change to US 10.5 circular needles and working in st st inc 2 sts evenly spaced. (74 total sts)
Work until piece measures approx. 7.5" from beg edge.
Shape Top
Change to double point needles when necessary
Nxt rnd (dec): *K5, k2tog, rep from *, end k4
Nxt rnd: Knit
Nxt rnd (dec): *K4, k2tog, rep from *, end k4
Nxt rnd: Knit
Nxt rnd (dec): *K3, k2tog, rep from *, end k4
Nxt rnd (dec): *K2, k2tog, rep from * to end of rnd
Nxt rnd (dec): *K1, k2tog, rep from * to end of rnd (22 sts)
Nxt rnd (dec): K2tog to end of rnd (11 sts)
Break yarn and pull through remaing sts. Fasten off.
